(Cue old fogey voice) When I was a kid, that would buy 2 meals and some change. I quite often went to Burger King for lunch. I got a burger, small fries, and a water for $2.

I remember when McDonalds advertised that you could buy an entire meal with a dollar and have change left over. I think it was 5 cents.
