Even though everyone in MN is complaining about our 40 degree days for the past month (which has come with a lot of rain and no snow), I am thankful. Our furnace died on Sunday and the mild weather + new siding and insulation is keeping us comfortable!

It's crazy.
Our low nightly temp is higher than the average daytime high temps.
Christmas eve is going to be warm. Warm enough to go sailing in winter.
huh. I just realised, geonuc and I already did the sail in winter thing.
But this time it would be warm!

We've got a brand new furnace, just sitting around doing nothing. :P

Never got cold here either. It's still 50s in temp in Amsterdam. Very strange! (It has snowed further inland though.)

If you click on the anomaly link you see that the ocean temperature is higher than usual in many places.

We don't always get "White Christmas's" around here. Even when we have a good snowy winter, often the heavy stuff doesn't come down and stay until January. Well...rain in the forecast for every day next week, with a long term high on Christmas day of 61.

I'm dreaming of a grey muddy Christmas. Sadly, many people I know seem to prefer this over a beautiful crisp bright white Christmas.

Well, it didn't rain every day last week. Actually there were a couple days where it was very bright and sunny. Mrs. T could have laid out on Christmas Eve. It was at least 60F, bright and sunny. We did get a fair amount of rain here and there. Then it started raining on Christmas and has been raining ever since. Think I got a total of about 5 1/2" in the last week. Had to clean out a couple ditches to keep things flowing. And I think one of the tiles under the drive is partially clogged. The drainage topped the drive twice. I can probably clear it out but I've been thinking of having it replaced with a bigger tile and a little more permanent. Hey it will be my Christmas Gift to myself!

I don't ever remember wearing shorts on Christmas Eve and Christmas before.

Just went out at lunch, it's doomy and gloomy, and rainy, and windy out there. After temps in 60's and sunshine, it feels brutally cold out there. A year ago, today would have felt like a heatwave.

Yesterday I was on a conference call with someone in Australia. Of course we got to talking about the weather. He said that it was near 100 F. And of course we gave him the opposite. It's actually pretty mild. Right now around freezing. Last night some snow came; only about 1 - 2 inches. There was no wind so this morning it was still covering the trees. It was beautiful. I'd take that over 100 most days. Well, ask me again after this weekend when we go subzero!

We finally made it down into the teens this week. Currently in the 30s again and raining. Supposed to finally get some snow that may stick on Sunday. We've had a couple bouts of light flurries but this is the latest I can remember where we've had absolutely no snow.

50 and rainy on Friday. Windy and cold Sunday and we did indeed get our inch of snow, at least at my house. It's 15F. Possibility of another inch or two and more cold this week. Finally.

Two more inches of snow Sunday then back down to 2. So I chose yesterday to take down all the outdoor Christmas lights. :P
Actually, I had fun. I love working around outside when it's cold. It was 38 in the garage and I'd go in there to warm up.

Another inch of snow yesterday, temps staying below freezing for another day or two. Nothing like the fun we had the last couple of years. But at least we're getting a little weather appropriate for the season. I shoveled the walks and part of the pad last night just on general principle. And to help the dog get a little exercise.

For the kind of weather you are looking for you may have to go to Virginia. :P

Yeah, we're expecting over 2 feet in the next few days.
Supermarkets are already empty because, you know, its two days of snow. Better stock up for the year.

No weather updates? I belive Jonas moved through a few of your'ses areas. :D

I must say, I am so glad I moved away from Maryland. The winters are so much nicer in Minnesota! I'm being serious. I'll take extreme cold and snow that stays until April over 2' snowstorms every 2-3 years! That's no exaggeration. In the 20 years my sister has lived in MD, she's lived through 7 of the biggest 14 snowstorms! The smallest of those 14 dropped 15". We've had that much snow once in 10 years in MN. And that's only half of their total this time.
