I'm glad you had fun on the day off! But yeah, I'm terrible at going to meet people before the conference starts too, unless it's a friend I know or similar. Something about being in the event itself vs just getting my bearings I guess, because the days are just so long during the conference event itself.

That said, I did go to a NASA-affiliated conference last week in Maryland and while technically masks were not required, everyone wore them and then there was a perfect patio outside for socializing. So that worked out great! And a giant contrast to the European conference I attended in June, where only the Americans wore masks.

Most people are not wearing masks, and tonight I'm eating at a place where we can't eat outside. MrPi goes to London on Sept 11 and I want him healthy for that. I think I'm just going to mask at home for at least 5 days after I return, then test.

Just checking in, I don't get here enough but try to read and catch up on what everyone is up to. Got the day off unexpectedly at the last minute (as always). So working on impromptu shopping and to do lists. Fall has finally fallen in this part of Ohio, so not much interest in doing any work on the property (38F, rainy, and breezy).

Got the day off? Aren't you retired? :)

Always love it when you stop by Thumper.

Everybody that I know that is "retired" always says they are busier now than ever. I never understood it, still don't. But yes I am. ;)

Not me. I'm properly retired - I do very little as compared to when I worked.

There is always an exception. ;)
But good for you.
