My home town area in Eastern Washington is getting several inches and predictions that it will continue through the middle of next week. We usually get snow there but definitely not as much as they are getting right now.

On the West side of the state, the shortage of kale and the snow will probably bring civilization to a screeching halt.

-14C/7F this morning. Not the 'polar vortex OMG it's frickin cold out there' that some of y'all have experienced this winter, but still a bit chilly. Forecast calls for snow for the rest of the year.

The BRZ has been safely tucked away under its car cover for a while now. It's that big white lump behind the house.

Do you know when a fad has gone mainstream? When the Panda Express starts serving "Super greens" for their sauteed vegetable side dish. I eat at the Panda Express occasionally and saw that the sauteed vegetables were now kale, cabbage, and broccoli. Apparently, they now use kale for more than smoothies.

Cabbage is a super green?

So it was warmer in Cbus for a significant amount of time while I was in San Diego. People looked at me like I was crazy for wearing shorts. I said, "It was -5 where I came from a week ago. The day before I flew out her we got 8 inches of snow. 57 and a light drizzle does not scare me."
It was 62 in Cbus on Thursday. By the time we got back Friday night it was 14. Started snowing yesterday, it was real pretty. Temps are coming up, rain for the next 48 hours, flood warnings again. And nobody figured out how to drive on wet, slightly slushy roads while I was gone.

The volcanoes were looking good yesterday as the wind blew snow off of them.

Beautiful. A lot more snow on them then when I flew over in October. I flew over a bunch, a big bunch of snow last week, from southern California through Colorado, and into Missouri.

They do that with celery too.

Maybe if I lived in the desert for a while I'd appreciate rain more than I do now.

Literally plowed through 6-8 inches of water, when I got to the far side of the new pond, there was a new ice rink.

The Kale shortage finally made The Bob and Tom Show this morning.

We got several inches yesterday of snow and "wintery mix," with constant winds above 30mph. Luckily I could cancel an appointment on campus and stay at home- they keep doing this stupid thing where we are the only ones who open in the entire city of the schools and universities, and then cancel everything from late afternoon on around noon. So stupid!

Craziest thing was up where we lived the wind was blowing from the east, so all our windows got coated in ice. And then in the evening as the ice melted we got the BOOM! every once in awhile as a panel fell down and hit a balcony or what have you. Exciting times on the 30th story! Still snowing now, but not too much.

Also, tomorrow we are driving to Quebec City. All highway so should be ok by the time tomorrow rolls around, and we are there to see the winter carnival thing this long weekend that my parents got us a free hotel stay for. Monday is a holiday here, so plan is to stop in Ottawa Sunday night to see the winter carnival there too. Pretty sure by the end of all this we'll be done with winter carnivals.

I'm glad you Canadians honor our US President's Day holiday as well.
I remember ice sheets plummeting off of sky scraper windows when were in in Manhattan a few years ago. Beautiful and scary at the same time.

I left for work 10 minutes later today, than yesterday. I got to work 1 hour later today than yesterday. The difference, well, a little slush, but what slowed me down was 200,000 of my closest friends surrounding me going anywhere from 10 to 1 MPH.

It was “Fanily Day” here. Aka random bank holiday off! So we used it road tripping to Quebec.

Yet another snow day.....up to 6" falling, affecting both commutes. (But probably more like 3-4" done just after noon). Part of me thinks MN is getting a little soft. But, there are a lot more cars on the roads these days, and most districts have buses responsible for multiple schools, so they really are pressed to keep on schedule. Keeping as many vehicles off the streets for the plows to come through is better in the long run.

Accomplished! We have over 12" of snow depth in our back yard, and I just crawled out and sat down. We just have a 6" slab outside our back door. No steps.

Creative! Hope your booted foot didn't get too cold too fast. Looks like alot of fun. As soon as we got 2 inches (enough to cripple morning rush), it turned to rain. Temps rising all day, supposed to rain until 10:00pm. Back to mud and flood mode.

Thanks! I wasn't out long enough for it to get cold, and it does have some nice padding.

And it's actually a balmy 25. It's so funny how we get (literally and figuratively) numb to the cold. Earlier this week it was below zero, with windchills in the negative teens, but no one batted an eye.
