They say it might snow again next Monday here. NO. GO AWAY.

Should be spring-like this weekend though, so we are hoping to hit up a maple syrup festival, of which there are eleventy billion in this part of the world this time of year!

We don't have snow in our 10 day forecast. But I've also seen May blizzards, and ice on Lake Superior on Memorial Day, so I don't count winter as over until June. Last year we had 8" of snow and 11F on April 4!

Highs in the 40's, 50's, and 60's the next 10 days with rain predicted on 7 of those days...
I'll take the blizzard please...

I don't even know what a forsythia is but I now hate them for not blooming already.

Hilarious. In Ohio, the saying is "Three more snows after the forsythia blooms."

Fun fact: we had a giant bush of forsythia when I was growing up as a kid, and turns out if you cut it in February you can force it to bloom early, well before the snow melts. So when I was a kid we would be sent to school with giant armfuls of forsythia branches for various favorite teachers because my mom was running out of people to give it to, to the point where the other kids would wonder if something special was going on that they were all around the school!

In conclusion, that's a really stupid saying, for me forsythia blooms in February. :)

It snowed all day on Sunday. Real snow, enough to make the whole world white again after a few weeks.

I kept thinking to myself "I mean, I know it's snowing so I'll work on my thesis because I have no excuse, but I do feel sorry for everyone else in Toronto!" Whoever said March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb had clearly never been here. Hopefully April will be better.

We left Cleveland Saturday shortly before the snow started. It poured most of the way home and after we got home. Then a reprieve on Sunday before it snowed Sunday night. We had snow on the ground at home but none in the city. It's been before freezing the last couple mornings but it's warming every day. Highs in the 70's by Sunday.

Central Oregon experienced the coldest March in over a hundred years, the local rag reports. Thankfully, Spring seems to have arrived, along with some rain. Despite the huge snowfall amounts (for CO, not you folks in the midwest, northeast), climate/weather experts say we're still likely in a drought situation, just not as bad.

It's funny - when I was reading the article on March temperatures, I couldn't help thinking some idiot climate change denier will take the floor of the US House and wave the article in the air while foaming at the mouth about it all being a hoax.

Snow day! We're in the middle of a winter storm warning. I think we've had about 6" so far out of a predicted 12" through tomorrow, but we're in a lull and the next band may be switching to rain.

Of course people are freaking out about April snow, forgetting that we had two storms worse than this in April last year!

Awesome! We have snow every April. Well, I've seen snow every single April but 2 since 1976.
But it's going up to 80F today! I guess when the storm gets here it'll be rain. Lots of rain this weekend and next with a high of 45 Monday. Doesn't look like it will get down below freezing again.

80 yesterday, 68 when I got up at 5:00 this morning.
Back down to 35 on Monday with a high of only 50.

Pretty nice weekend all the way around with some wicked storms about 4:00 on Sunday. There were tornado watches and warnings all over. Seemed like it dumped about 2 inches of rain in a half an hour.

There is a strange, faint glow in the eastern sky as I'm driving to work this week.

That can't be good. Best to head for the store and stock up on essentials, head home and wait it out.

My furnace kicked on last night...

Last Tuesday I took the field manager out on a, well field trip. It was 33 when we started and had the heat and defrost blasting. By 1:00pm it was something like 78 out, bright and sunny and I had max A/C blowing.
