Yeah, I'm late with this one this year. Quite honestly, I've only watched a handful of games all season. Enjoyed the Classic, as Montreal vs Boston is always a hell of a match up. Leafs are playing like was expected, as they are re-building.

They made announcements of the latest players to be memorialized with bronze statues on "Legends Row" outside the ACC. The three announced two weeks ago are: Turk Broda, Tim Horton and Dave Keon. Family of Broda and Horton were on hand, Dave Keon made an appearance. He definitely deserves his place there and he is the only Leaf player to have been awarded the Conn Smythe award (playoff MVP), all those many years ago.

Thursday night, as the Leafs are now on the road, the Leafs honoured Sittler, as tomorrow marks the 40th anniversary of his 10 pt night (still an NHL record), he scored 6 goals and had 4 assists in an 11-3 victory over the Bruins. Many players from that team were on hand for the pre-game ceremony, as was Dave Reece who was in net for the Bruins that night, 40 years ago. I remember watching that game. Sittler broke the mark of 8pts. in one game set by "Rocket" Richard. Many players have tied that record, but hard to say if Sittler's will be beaten.

Is that anything like scoring 10 touchdowns in football?

Going to another Jackets' game tomorrow night. They're giving tickets away.

LOL! Not quite like scoring 10 TDs in football. All things considered looking at players that have been in the league since ( Gretzky, Lemieux, Crosby, etc.) and the record is still intact, says something about the special night that was.

For the first time since 1970, all Canadian based teams missed the NHL playoffs.

Once again, what is this "playoff" word you always seem to use every April?

IIRC, playoffs are played after the regular season ends. At the end the victorious team lifts a trophy called the Stanley Cup. Next year will be the Leafs' centennial and also mark 50 years since their last Stanley Cup win.

Sad news: Gordie Howe has passed away at the age of 88. His hockey career spanned 6 decades.

Yeah, Mr. Hockey is gone. He had a hat-trick named after him, goal, assist and fight. He did get the chance to play on a team (Hartford?) with his two sons, when he was past 50. I have a stamp of him in an NHL collector book from the 1970 - 71 season. RIP.

ETA: San Jose was able to keep Pittsburgh from clinching the Cup at home, last night.

Yeah, I remember watching him center the line with his two sons as wingers. Pretty cool.
