I suspect I may be the only one here who cares about this, but being an old folkie, this made me sad.

Toshi-Aline Ohta Seeger, wife of folk music icon Pete Seeger, passed away overnight on Tuesday, July 9th. She was a mother, an organizer, an activist and filmmaker … and an essential part of all of her husband’s work. She was 91.

I actually met her a couple of times. Back in the 80s I was active with an environmental group called Clearwater that Pete Seeger was one of the founders of (I met him on multiple occasions). I volunteered at the group's big annual event, the Great Hudson River Revival and she was a regular there, working "backstage". I remember there was one Revival where I was driving her around in a golf cart as she took care of various things.

Sail on Toshi.

My parents are huge Pete Seeger fans. As such, I heard lots of his music growing up and got to see him live on several occasions. What a great, long, fulfilling, loving life she must of had. Yes I'm sad, especially for Pete.
But well done.
(Thanks for posting, I hadn't heard this yet)

Its the hammer of justice, its the bell of freedom,
Its a song about love between my brothers and my sisters, all over this land.

I know it was inevitable, and he had long immensely full life, but when I heard this morning I got sad and lonely. Pete no longer has my back.
