A Trifecta

Federally, investigations of unelected Senators improperly submitting bills for housing allowances. Questions of the PM of his knowledge of his Chief of Staff loaning money to one of the Conservative Senators to pay back improperly billed housing allowances. Chief of staff resigned, Senator booted out of caucus, IIRC faces investigation by the RCMP.

Provincially, scandal plagued Liberal minority gov't hanging on with NDP support to get their budget passed. The cancelled gas plants that saved the seats of 4 Liberal MPPs are likely to cost close to $1b by the time they are relocated and up and running. Info slowly trickling out that they (Liberals) may have known the true cost, but still low-balled the cost estimates. Their arms length transit committee just announced their preferred "revenue tools" (taxes and fees) for the gov't to consider introducing, in order to raise $2b/yr for the next 25 yrs for a mass expansion of transit. Many fear these proposed "dedicated revenue tools" will end up in that black hole known as "General Revenues".

Municipally - Our Mayor even made the US based late night talk shows, a week or two ago. The allegation he was caught on video smoking crack cocaine. Only problem the video has been only seen by an editor at Gawker and two Toronto Star reporters. Gawker has raised funds to buy the video, thing being the video supposedly is in the possession of alleged drug dealers. Any attempt to actually buy the video may be illegal and could be viewed as funding drug dealers and/or money laundering. No one can be sure if the alleged video is real or was it a fake. Apparently they (Gawker) now aren't able to contact those that offered them the video, in the first place. Some hollering Mayor is fooling himself by stating things at City Hall running as usual. Some opposing the Mayor admit they can get enough votes to pass their own agenda through council. To the Mayor's point that things are running as usual, this weekend 18 of our 44 city councillors (mostly those opposing the Mayor) are in Vancouver attending a Cdn. Federation of Municipalities conference.

Update:

Federally - The Senate is opening up their books to auditors (perhaps every same should go for every member of the House of Commons).

Provincially - The Provincial police have been called in, to investigate why the Chiefs-of-staff of both the former premier and the minister of energy deleted e-mails that may have pertained to the gas-plant cancellation. It is becoming very messy for the provincial Liberals, but needless to say, staffers are being blamed the politicians have no knowledge. I'm shocked, I tell you, well not really.

Municipally - Not much has changed, much allegation and not much fact to support the allegations coming from "unnamed sources" in stories.
