Yeah, the more I listen to reports from Argentina the more it sounds like they're really not heading in a good direction financially... One of those things you keep an eye on but it certainly doesn't sound like things are getting better (as a rule if you're that out of touch with the black market rates you're seriously in trouble).

Also this is random but I had no idea Messi was Argentinian.

Actually it's even worse than what you say.

Argentina has gone through stupidity like this SEVERAL times, they just won't learn.

So I strongly suspect that we won't either.

Yeah, I do remember they did this like a decade ago when the peso went to hell.

I also remember when I visited in 2010 they tried to explain to me why it happened and why it wouldn't again, but I didn't believe it. But then that country also just has random roadblocks maintained by police to this very day that are left over from the dictator days, and if you ask people why they assume that's normal and you need it to counter drug trafficing and what not.

if things really get tough, they'll just invade the Falklands again and wait for the economic help package after the Brits kick their asses again.

Meh, they've been making all sorts of noise about the Falklands, but since the cold war is over I don't think the brits will give them any money once they've kicked their asses.... :P
