Or be shot as a damned liberal nigger by some redneck that could now afford to get ammo. ;)

Seriously, good on him.
Hope it makes a real impression in the US.

Argh.

@FZ, I know you're being highly facetious here, but would you please stop using that particular racial slur? In American parlance it's roughly on the same level as referring to Jewish people as vermin, regardless of how it's used.

I can do that if it bugs you, though one of the reasons I do it is because I don't want it to be that way.
Using it removes its power. The more we don't use it, the more power we give to those who do.

Yeah, I have a markedly different viewpoint on that due to the word's history; my feeling is it's more of a threat than an insult, along the lines of calling people vermin or germs or such.

But yes. I'd very much appreciate it if you didn't use that word. And thanks.

Context is everything.

I think we are among friends and fellow-travelers here and we should be used enough to each other that we can use such terms and understand what each other means by them.

One of the reasons I participate here is that unlike most of the rest of both my real and virtual life, I can use adult language without censorship, as if I was sitting around in my den having a couple of beers with you guys (and girls).

I think you need to lighten up on this GJ.

Second, just for reference, there are much worse things that Jews can and have been called than "vermin". I would teach you a couple of them, but I suspect you don't want to know, or want to read them, or you already know them and are not even comfortable enough to type them.

Likewise swift, r.e. the bunch of friends having a few drinks.
I have no idea about derogatory words for Jews and to be honest I tend to get upset at that myself.
Mainly because they have been persecuted for so damned long and it's almost fashionable in some circles to do so.
So maybe I'm a hypocrite. lol

Years ago I almost got to dating a girl, but she turned out to be already interested in another, she was Jewish.
I found out because I was with her when her father called and she spoke Hebrew.
She was embarrassed about it and kept it secret so others wouldn't know. I was shocked.
I told her she speaks one of the most ancient languages in mankind.
There is nothing to be ashamed about or reason to keep it a secret.
Made her feel a lot better but she still didn't want drop the other guy to date me, the bitch...just kidding. She was a great person. lol

I like his answer about whether his actions would inspire other university presidents. "I can afford it". :P

Except everyone can afford it.
What they don't want is to compromise what luxuries that all ready have.
Totally different to being able to afford it.

I learned that lesson a while ago.
My version of I can't afford something is: I have to stop eating if I do this.
Other people's is: I'll have to get the new BWM instead of the Ferrari I always wanted.

Afford, the new redefined word that does not mean what you think it means.
