This is why we have the term, feminazi

This woman is a prominent writer in the UK and a prominent feminist.

https://www.change.org/p/the-guardian-t ... e-guardian

She promotes things like this:
It won’t, not unless men get their act together, have their power taken from them and behave themselves. I mean, I would actually put them all in some kind of camp where they can all drive around in quad bikes, or bicycles, or white vans. I would give them a choice of vehicles to drive around with, give them no porn, they wouldn’t be able to fight – we would have wardens, of course! Women who want to see their sons or male loved ones would be able to go and visit, or take them out like a library book, and then bring them back.

I hope heterosexuality doesn’t survive, actually. I would like to see a truce on heterosexuality. I would like an amnesty on heterosexuality until we have sorted ourselves out. Because under patriarchy it’s shit.

And I am sick of hearing from individual women that their men are all right. Those men have been shored up by the advantages of patriarchy and they are complacent, they are not stopping other men from being shit.

I would love to see a women’s liberation that results in women turning away from men and saying: “when you come back as human beings, then we might look again.”

Yep, put men in concentration camps because they aren't human beings.

Oh, if any of you ladies disagree, she's covered that too. She's sick of you not accepting the truth that she is pushing.

Oh, the site I linked is a petition to have her removed from a newspaper where she is a regular writer. It has under 1500 signatures.

Yeah, Lady?! Well, I'm sick of psychos like you telling me that every time I have sex with my husband, I'm being raped because I'm so brain washed, I don't know how to consent. Stop telling me how powerful I am, as a woman, while telling me I have no power at all. And if you come anywhere near any of the men I hold near and dear to my heart, prepare for violence... only, it won't be from the men.

Sadly, she would just claim your attitude is an example of the extreme brainwashing women are subject to.

And that infuriates me!

people, people, people. please calm down. please. cleansing breath. now another. feeling better? (thank you, dr Lamaze!) is this the 1st nut case you've encountered or has it been > 1 yr since the last? if so give thanks that you're around for this amazing encounter. have you never encountered a male spouting ideas equally (if not more) bothersome? you know that you have and you didn't come up with a gender-specific term for him, did you? so why one in this case? and borrowing from rush. tsk, tsk.

Yeah, same reason I didn't post a response earlier either- I am sure there are such idiots in the world, but I've never encountered one and can't see them having much bearing on me and my life, so why waste energy on them?

Far better to waste energy on idiots like my adviser, who refuses to tell the university I'm not actually unemployed at the end of the month until next week's stupid deadline even though I'm ahead on said deadline.

We're always hearing about men that are stupid but not to this level. I would see posts at least daily on FB and plenty here too. Usually about trying to control women's rights or abusing their position of power.
So far I haven't seen a male put forth the idea that women should be rounded up into concentration camps or that they aren't worthy of being considered human beings. I'd have posted it as well.
The closest we get is some Muslims who treat women like property. If the women above was referring to them, I might be inclined to agree with her, but, she's putting all men in the one basket.
As an example, when we hear of a prominent man who took advantage of his position to sexually harass women, it gets to be published everywhere. I'd imagine there would be a huge outcry if a male who was a regular writer for a popular paper put forth the idea that women should be put into concentration camps.
The biggest problem here is that she is a leading authority figure for feminism, a spokesperson. Now it might just be me, but, I consider women's rights and equality to be far too important to let it be associated with people like this. She does more harm than good to the cause of women's equality. Sadly, it seems to be largely ignored so the end result is that people won't take feminism seriously. If too many women like this get to be representing the feminism movement then it is destined to fail miserably. Ignoring it till it taints the entire movement is not a wise thing to do.
So yeah, I'm upset about it. Not because of her or what she is saying. I'm upset because of what she is doing and that is undermining the basic principle of feminism and she's not only being let into the fold, she's being shown the path to the top of it.
That is not a good thing for women anywhere.

Exactly. Ignore the fringe long enough, and they start to take over. Tea Party anyone?

you're always hearing such things?
I'm not at all familiar with the woman quoted. a leading authority figure?! a spokesman??!! elected by whom? I have no idea what prompted her statements. which are outrageous. they were taken from an interview and not part of a prepared speech. what was the context? I would point out that there *was* a huge outcry against her statements; your link is to an on-line petition against her!

am I correct in believing that you have not made an exhaustive search for equally revolting statements but with the genders reversed? if so, and you are reporting on what you have seen/not seen in your perusal of your favorite sites, then you cannot say that they do not exist. in a few minutes I found the following posts -

why I think women are stupid
women are irrational
topic for debate - are women people?

and how can anyone forget the blithe assertion that women were unable to hold positions of leadership due to 'raging hormonal imbalances'? or the stepford wives. (yes, I know that it was a novel and a film and not a call to action.)

and rush Limbaugh (really, vendic, following rush Limbaugh?), who coined the term, was reacting to nothing so extreme.

Just because he's picked up the term does not mean vendic is following Rush Limbaugh. That's not his style.

believe me, the image of him hastening to rush did not spring easily to my mind.
