I still don't think most people on the left understand how hated Hillary Clinton is. It doesn't matter if any of it is accurate. The narrative against Hillary Clinton has been going on for ages, and even if people who don't believe the nastier stuff are sick to death of establishment politics. A lot of them just wanted to see things shaken up. And his followers are easily led by people with the ability to spin things.

I agree that the established order needed shaking up. Unfortunately, entropy trends toward the negative unless energy is increased in the system. If you want the translation of that in social terms: "This is bad Man!".

For the record, Hillary dealt with far worse for far longer.

I read an interesting article that claims that Trump lies because he is shaping reality. Literally, he wants us to endorse his version of reality. Regardless of the truth. The methods he uses are essentially similar to gas lighting. When you no longer trust your own perceptions, anything, or anyone else it is easier to get you to accept his version of reality.

And because of the way people are taught and hard wired by biology it can be less difficult than you think.

I read or saw something about studies saying that being around bad smells makes someone more conservative. When we say we need clean jobs for the future of America, we need jobs that are literally clean.

Regardless of how smart those individuals might be, half of them want to live in a simpler world, where six fireflies in a jar is the elegant, perfect solution. The other half want to prey on the other half, so want them to believe what they see are six fireflies in a jar instead of a reflection of the glowing eyes of a predator sneaking up behind them.

Personally, I think Trump is a "Noing." So are his followers. However, you can't tell them or else you become a Noing. It's viral.
