Not sure. A lot of things have to happen for any significant change. But, it's a step in the right direction

In the meantime, This happened I don't believe for a minute any government figures. So, I agree with the article.

He can try. Our military are barely able to deal with the border guerilla and they're going to invade another country? I strongly suspect that they're quietly telling him "Fat chance Bub". roll: roll:

I wonder if this will make him less popular in the eyes of statist communists here... Probably not, if they can rationalize Soviet imperialism they can rationalize anything.

I doubt it. Those people are just like Trump supporters.

Your evil imperial imperialist evil infidel Military is holding military exercises with the Guyana Military

Our defense minister was not pleased and called it a "pathetic provocation" (link in Spanish).Guyana basically said "go ahead, make my day". Your state department yawned and ordered a pizza.

If you ask me, there's no way this is going to go anywhere further than this. My country is full of windbags. When push comes to shove, they all fold. That's why we ended up with an SOB like Chavez and his boy Maduro.

ETA:

Apparently Maduro gave An Ultimatum to Oil companies operating in Guyana that if they don't leave within three months, they will not be able to operate in Venezuela. You can stop laughing now.

I'd laugh if it didn't sound so pathetic.

And tomorrow, Maduro is going to meet with the President of Guyana. I guess Maduro is going to chat about the weather. Because Guyana already said this:

The Office of the President of Guyana confirmed Ali had agreed to the meeting, but added, "Guyana's land boundary is not up for discussion."

This is a pretty bitter pill for me to swallow. I am pretty sure that in the 19th century the Brits took that territory from us (that's what they did in those days) But we never did anything really serious to get it back. So even if Venezuela's claim is valid, that territory was lost decades before I was born. The bitter pill is that as a Venezuelan, on top of dealing with the disaster caused by Chavez, Maduro and the rest of those bastards I have to watch this pathetic charade. Just by being born in this country I got shortchanged.

I'm Shocked! SHOCKED! Who could have imagined this outcome?

Guyana, Venezuela both committed to peace, Guyanese president says

Yeah it definitely reeks of the classic "start a war when things aren't going great" type narrative. I also have a general rule about world politics whereby if you are bitching about a border that changed over a century ago, it's time to move on. Heck, probably an even shorter timeline than that, but after a century you definitely need to let it go.

This message brought to you by a bunch of Hungarians who still legitimately complain and think we need to get back "lost territories" Hungary lost in the Treaty of Versailles (well, Trianon, but same thing basically). Not saying it was fair, but unfortunately one has to eventually admit it's probably not gonna happen.

Indeed.

I am guessing Orban is keeping that card around for a rainy day.

Maduro is very upset because the Brits sent a Navy ship to Guyana. The UK's Foreign Office is so concerned with Maduro's reaction that it decided to have some more tea.

The fact that Maduro considers a menace that the Brits sent a Patrol Boat to Guyana, should say a lot about the state of our Navy....

I'm not sure Maduro is going to get this one. Our culture is not big on Irony...

"We don't plan on invading Venezuela. President Maduro knows this and he need not have any worry about that," he told a press conference.
