There's only one reason why I don't think he should executed: to make sure Al-Quaeda & Co. don't use him as a martyr.

So, I hope he spends the rest of his life in Death Row doing appeals and that he dies before they run their course.

I don't think he has much value as a martyr now that Bin Laden is dead. OBL is a much better martyr.

I mean, back in the old days you could get stories that get bigger and bigger fueled by ignorance and ignited by a martyr.

I think it's in large part Al-Quaeda is way on the decline (as are a lot of other forms of Muslim extremism) even though you don't hear about it much. Not to mean others won't take their place, but OBL is basically who ran the organization so with him gone it's just not as big.
