As a gift to new home owners, I traditionally bring:
bread - so the people in the home never want for physical sustenance;
salt - to ensure prosperity for the household;
a bottle of wine - that the household may celebrate the "good times";
a piece of coal - an old symbol that ensures the home will be warm;
and a small living plant - so the household will grow and thrive.

as in "Men are men and women are women, blah blah blah insert stereotypes here, You Can't Ignore Reality."
I know we've been over this, I'm at best a faux wannabe pseudofeminist with chauvinistic tendencies, yada yada. But... no. Just no way. You can't just go and define stereotyped behavior as Reality just because most people happen to act that way. Statistics are statistics, not invariant laws.
Anyone can acknowledge there's a huge difference between George W. Bush and Al Gore (for example), or Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin. Different people, different personalities. So, maybe most women have personalities more along X lines, and men more along Y lines, and that's okay, but seriously, don't tell me that this is Reality and everyone fits neatly into little archetype boxes. That's not Reality, that's a simplistic fantasy.

Lots of people ignore reality and do it on a daily basis.

Reality is for people who can't handle drugs.

I think you do but it's no comfort for me or maybe anyone else to say so. What you need is for things to improve. I hope they do soon.

I am with Geonuc on this. Sometimes you just need good shit to happen. And sometimes you have to look for good shit. Like having a loving mother. Even if she does make you crazy. Or knowing that you have friends. Even if they do piss you off. But, best of all..... you have an Australian Redneck. I mean really? How many people can say that?

Did it?
I was that way for the last couple weeks. Things got better over the weekend. I'm looking to continuing and carry it through this week and the holidays. Hope you can too.SciFi Chick wrote:code monkey wrote:sfc, you and z are 2 of the most amazing people that i've ever encountered and, as a team, you're at the top of the list. 1 thing at a time and the first thing is to get over the virus. then you'll analyze the situation, make plans and act on them. and know that you have a sympathetic audience here.

You, and everyone else here, were absolutely right. I'm feeling a lot better and a lot more hopeful. It's still an uphill battle, but I'm ready to fight instead of just lie down and give up, so that's something.
