Sure did. Reminded me of a parody vampire movie.

It reminded me of a crappy movie with zombies and vampires I watched once and tried to forget. I did manage to forget the name of it. :)
This short clip was far more entertaining.

No, no, no. No vampires, no zombies, all overdone. No chainsaw wielding psychos. We need something new.

How about superbeings who treat us like disobedient children? Helicopter parents for the entire species, and we react to them just like the average pre-teen does?

How about some sort of new virus or disease, but it does something new? Maybe The Giving Plague (David Brin)?

Nope. Vampires.

But not the sparkly kind. The Salem's Lot kind. You know, proper vampires.

I have to admit I didn't know anything about sparkly vampires until I googled it. Yeah, no sparkly vampires.

I loved Salem's Lot and tried to find it online but no one has it.
I wanted sfc and the MIL to see it.

Apparently, they've done a mini-series as well, with this little known actor called Rob Lowe. :P

Hard to choose between the 1979 and 2004 mini-series. Both were well done, I'd probably give a bit of an edge to the '79 version.

One of the very few horror books that actually gave me a fright. The movie wasn't bad either.

Well, I made the wife and MIL watch the original Salem's Lot.
Let's just say my childhood memories about it being awesome were just a tad off.

Or maybe not: "Although Salem's Lot was aimed at television, a European theatrical release was planned from the start, which would include more violence. Two versions of the scene where Cully Sawyer threatens Larry Crockett with a shotgun were shot. In one version, Larry holds the gun barrel in his mouth, while in the mini-series the barrel is in front of his face. "They worked at a feature film pace instead of a TV pace," recalled actor Lance Kerwin on the filming. "It's really even hard to tell the flow of the film. It was a miniseries originally, then we shot a feature film version for Europe at the same time. They've edited and cut together so much."[4]"

Hmm, I'll have to re-watch both versions someday. It has been a long time since seeing the '79 version. I'll have to check my vhs collection to see if I taped the 04 version, when it aired. I didn't see the theatrical version of the first mini-series. Judging from what i gathered from wiki, it is over an hour shorter than the mini-series. Before watching either, I'll re-read the book, as I know I have it on hand.

It was really long and overall boring.
It took almost to the end to even get to the vampire himself which was very short lived at that point.
So many scenes had wasted time. I mean literally there was nothing happening.
One time we wondered if we hit the pause button as the actor was not moving and there was no sound!
The music in places was so over the top it was almost comical.
Very much not like I remembered it but maybe I had a better imagination as a kid?

Thanks, my memory may be working the same way. Haven't found any Salem's Lot '04 amongst my vhs tapes. I do have part 2 of It (They've been shooting the re-make in town), The Shining '97, Bag of Bones, The Stand and The Tommyknockers.
