That is all.

On a scale of Delta to Us Airways where do they fit in? ;)

Monday morning there were 10 scheduled flights out of Tampa-Clearwater (PIE). 5 were significantly delayed. 3 ended up being canceled. Apparently 4 planes were grounded due to maintenance issues. Not that they were ever going to tell us. They knew well before I waited 3 hours in 3 different lines that there was 0 chance of anyone getting to Columbus OH that day, but they lie and string you along. If you can avoid the nickel and diming, put up with their limited schedule on a good day, and the smaller airports they use, they are way cheaper than any other airline. But you get what you pay for.

For the record they bumped American out of the top spot on my personal roster. Not an easy task.

Well, the car died today. Actually, stalled and would restart as I was getting ready to turn onto the freeway. I had The Kid with me. I was able to roll through the intersection into a little "free" area out of the traffic flow. AAA came and got it to my garage. Luckily, my garage, my office, and the place I was taking The Kid to are all close together. So that ended up working out.

The garage called and the total bad news was expected: It's terminal. Yes, it's a 14 year old car with 253,000 miles on it. When I took it over from Mrs. T and let her get a newer car, I knew most likely I'd be driving it until it died. But I'm pissed. I've taken great of this car. All regular services and maintenances have been performed; fluids filters, everything. It's been garaged almost every night of it's life. The engine has not been over revved or abused.

It's the first motor, especially a Honda that went south on me. I sold my last Honda with 278,000 miles and as far as I know the guy is still driving it. I thought for sure I could take this past 300,000m. Now I'm looking at a grand just to get it temporarily running and try to sell it (which doesn't make me feel good) or sell it for scrap. I do have a truck to drive, but it's old, the mileage is crappy, and I'm not a big fan of using it on my commute. I'm not in a position to get a new vehicle. So I'd be buying someone else's problem, just like someone would be buying mine.

I know I shouldn't assign personality traits to an inanimate object. But I've taken such good care of it as all my equipment that I feel a bit betrayed.

Truly sucks when cars you take care of let you down. If you ran it into the ground it would be different. If it were me I would scrap it and use the $1000 to invest in a new ride. unless putting $1000 into will actually get you more than $1000 back.

I limped it home Friday. Mechanic said to just "let go." So now the truck is giving me problems. Suddenly the brake light is on, got a really soft pedal and I'm losing brake fluid somewhere. Just wonderful. I'm going from two functioning vehicles to 0 in a heartbeat.

Yep, big first world problems. Heard from the garage. A brake line at one of the fittings has let go. Problem is as they take the old stuff off, it keeps breaking further and further (being 20 years old and all with lots of salty winter time). Worst case it could be up to 800 bucks if they have to replace all of the rear brakes. I don't think they'll have to because I did a full rear brake job a few years back. We'll see, it's only money...

Today marks day 4 of driving a different car to work each day. Thursday was half Honda, half Dodge rollback, Monday was GMC pickup, Tuesday was chauffeured in Mrs. T's Nissan, and this morning was a loaner Fiat from my mechanic. Wonder how long I can keep the streak alive...

I'm sorry, truck has been back in the shop twice in the last couple weeks. I drove a loaner honda on Tuesday. I'm in Dayton with Mrs. T. going to the Air Force Museum while she attends a conference. Today on the way home, I'm picking up the truck. We've agreed that I will hand over my VISA card, I'll sign the slip while Greg holds his hand over the total. Mrs. T wants to go out shopping to get me a "new" car. I'm almost inclined to let her. I'm taking bets that the next thing to go south on the Truck will be the A/C compressor. We'll see if I can go two weeks without putting it in the shop.

I'm just going through a spell. It's 21 years old. Parts wear out. They're just wearing out back to back to back...

This is in the continuing and ever popular category of "My boss is an asshole".

On May 4, I sent out a memo about a small production experiment I ran. I never heard anything from him or anyone else about the memo.

At a meeting this morning that experiment got mentioned in passing (it was only tangentially related to the meeting topic). Apparently, that triggered something in his little brain and he must gone back and actually read the memo. He sent me an e-mail this afternoon asking me to re-write and redistribute the memo, because I didn't put enough emphasis on a point he thinks is the most important aspect of it. Actually, the way he wrote the e-mail, it sounds like I didn't discuss this point at all, when I did, but apparently I didn't stress it enough.

This is basically three months after I wrote it. Schmuck.

swift, you have led a sheltered life. i do sympathize; you clearly were jolted by your boss's actions. his momentary slip. however, i fear that the act you describe does not qualify your boss for the rank of shmuck.

i could tell you stories...

I don't think I've led a sheltered life and I certainly wasn't "jolted" by this; in fact, I don't really expect anything else. At most, it just dropped my usual pretty miserable opinion about work about one momentary notch lower, and it was more fun bitching about it here than doing my actual job for those few minutes. This is, after all, BMR Lite, and I wanted to be consistent with the Lite designation.

If we want to have a "who hates their job more" contest, I'll wave the white flag and let someone else win. :?

What a wanker. It's quite clear he's making you rewrite it, so that it will have a more current date than if he forwarded the May one. And he can't tell you that, so he's pretending something needs to be changed. I agree with your designation of Schmuck.
