Gas Shortage 2016

Had a crappy day? Think your only friend is the dog? Got fired? Someone piss in your Wheaties? Just need to blow off some steam and rant? Here's the place to do it. No judgement, maybe some sympathy, possibly some advice... but definitely a safe place to go off on the world.

Gas Shortage 2016

Seems a pipeline in Alabama ruptured, spilling hundreds of thousands of gallons of gas into a reservoir. That's bad enough but it also has shut down supplies to Southeastern states. Gas stations here are already running out of supplies.

Oh, shit! Guess what direction we're headed on our boat... guess I'm gonna have to learn to sail sooner rather than later. :scream:

Hopefully the pipeline will be back in operation well before then.

Obviously, we're in the beginning stages of a shortage. This morning after I read this on the news, I went out and filled up two cars with gas. One station I use was out of gas but the bigger QT station was still pumping. And at 5:30 AM, there didn't seem to be much of a rush to get gas. Just the usual number of people at that time on a Sunday morning.

But it won't take long before things get worse. News reports mentioned many stations yesterday with no gas and long lines to get gas. Much of that is probably people like me - fill up before the shortage gets serious.

This shouldn't be as bad as previous shortages caused by major market disruptions. I would imagine there's already plans in place to truck gas around the pipe break. Or something.

Or, this could be the start of the zombie apocalypse. There's a good chance the pipe ruptured because the people attending the pumping stations were overrun by the undead.

I read they're using an alternate pipe line, and they've removed the restrictions on how long truck drivers can drive. Eliminating those restrictions on trucks filled with gasoline. What could POSSIBLY go wrong?

Well, you do live at Ground Zero for The Walking Dead.

Thirty years ago I would have been cheering for the Zombie Apocalypse. Now, I can't run so fast. I still shoot pretty good but those darn Zombies seem to have an endless supply while bullets are finite. :P

Nah.
If it happened in the Shenandoah Valley, you might have a legitimate case. lol

@vendic

Now I think of it, Shenandoah being full of zombies might explain Donald Trump's popularity there.

Notice how no one ever thinks of that in Zombie movies?

Well I found out that Flamethrowers work well with Zombies playing "Return to Castle Wolfenstein" which BTW, IMHO is much more authoritative on the subject than "Fear the Walking Dead" :P

Flame throwers are bulky, heavy, hard to come by and have a nasty tendency to burn down the whole neighborhood if not used with skill. And if the pumping station operators would have happened to have one handy, they probably would have burned down half of Alabama. Better to have several pump action 12 gauges on hand.

The more I think about it, this gas pipeline thing is definitely zombie-related. I better go to the gun store.

I'm bored with zombies. Can't we come up with some new doom.

Well.... I didn't want to mention this but I think we have already been invaded. It explains so much about human behavior the last 70-100 years.

As long as they don't sparkle I can go with that. :P

Did you watch True Blood? My personal favorites of recent vintage were the Blade movies.

Eh. Vampires vs zombies is contrived (and I saw the movie). In real life, the contest is between vampires and werewolves.
