Rommie -- saw the NOVA show on the mission. The pix of the comet nucleus were astonishing. They raised the question
of whether the comet is two impacted bodies or just shaped by erosion. From what was in the show, the comet
seemed to be more the product of erosion than an impactor (two big nodules with a connecting neck).
My question is, if there are enough eruptions in the neck that this thingie breaks into two big rocks, then what?
So we have two rocks not touching but accompanying each other due to gravity, or might the various eruptions make them
separate, and now we have two comets? Do they become separate named objects, or something-1 and something-2, or what?
Curious minions want to know...

I'm no comet expert, but I know they break apart really often.
