Not the cable company, The Mars Lander that successfully landed yesterday afternoon. I'm excited. I wish I had been paying more attention. I was thinking yesterday, it's no wonder that NASA doesn't have a budget anymore. If a space nerd like me doesn't pay regular attention to the wonderful and incredible accomplishments of our space program, how can there be support from the general public? It's too bad that NASA has to spend a significant portion of its budget hyping itself. But I guess that's the reality of today's busy distracted society.

Anyway. Yay NASA. I'm having trouble putting drum brakes back together. These fine folks put yet another probe on fu(^ing Mars.

This is the BBC's take on it

Apparently there were people in NYC gathered to watch the landing. (see picture at the bottom).

Still, I agree with you. NASA has to devote substantial time, effort and funds to hype itself.

Yesterday, with some last minute activity, Insight helped me achieved one of my aspirations for our new museum. We streamed the landing live in three places, engaging our audiences in a way they didn't even imagine when they decided to come to the museum. I love gathering a group of people around a screen to watch a launch or a landing or another amazing space event.

It's almost like it's rocket science.
