Transit of Mercury

Transit of Mercury

Postby pumpkinpi » Mon Nov 11, 2019 7:02 pm

There's a little black spot on the Sun today...
Viewing conditions:
St. Paul, MN
17F, windchill at 0

We had cloudy skies from sunrise until about 8am, then about a half hour clear skies, cloudy until about 9:15, then it cleared up.

We have telescopes set up for the duration of the transit, until noon. When I went in around 10:30, we had counted over 100 visitors. People love astronomy in the Twin Cities! Some parents are excusing their children to arrive late to school to see it.

This picture was taking with my Samsung Galaxy Note 8, through a 10" Dobsonian telescope.

Cool! Clouds here. :( I saw the one in 2016 though.
Yes, I have a life. It's quite different from yours.

The clouds thinned out just enough, I found my solar filters just in time, and my buddy canceled work that day. Mrs. T and I watched for quite a while from the front yard. It was awesome.
