git commit -m "Shoot the messenger"

or perhaps better, "githullabaloo"...

... This sounds like the job from hell.

NB though, I do find it a bit interesting that the big talk is about "sexism" whereas Horvath's worst complaints are about another woman's behavior. The huge issue IMO is that people need to be held accountable for abusing and taking advantage of others, period, no exceptions. From the sound of it, Github's management were not seeing to that.

In any case I'm rather glad I mostly use Gitorious.

Yeah, If you ask me, whatever Sexism is there, seems to be the least of the problems at GitHub.

Honestly reading that over I think it sounds more that the one founder and his wife are off the rails and no one has bothered to reign them in than anything (though obviously the other stuff isn't exactly nice too).

When startups begin it is pretty standard to have a spouse or other family help out even if they're not on the payroll because you hardly have money to pay the minimal staff you can afford- my mom definitely helped my dad out the first few years and was never paid for it for example when he began a startup. The fact that the wife still has her hand in the jar and is doing things as described though is odd and GitHub is beyond the point where it's acceptable.

Of course, I doubt this will stop folks here from using GitHub religiously for our code; personally I never found it as straightforward as they claim.

Normally I would have agreed that there is a problem.
However, after seeing how our staff behaved and the lies they spread makes me very dubious about any one employee's comments and this just reminds me of the sort of thing they would have done. My spidey sense is tingling.

Yeah I doubt this is really going to make much difference for GitHub in the long run. Too much he said she said, and I know a lot of folks love their product.
