TVO started airing this 10 part Norwegian tv series (English subtitles). 2 episodes in, I'm enjoying it.
Set in the "near future" , the US has achieved "energy independence" and dropped out of NATO. Mid-east turmoil has compromised oil output from the region. A hurricane hits Norway, affecting it's oil output. Greens get elected, the new PM shuts down all oil production, to focus on clean "thorium based" nuclear energy. Europe now is in a major energy crisis. The solution: EU asks Russia to help implement a "velvet glove" invasion of Norway, to restore oil production.
Inspiration for the series, came from an idea by Norwegian author Jo Nesbo, who also had a hand in writing the first few episodes.
