Gene Wilder has died. According to the news report he died from complications related to Alzheimer's.

There are so many movies that he was awesome in. I probably will always remember him best for his roles in Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, and Stir Crazy.

Blazing Saddles is a top-five movie for me, and a big part of it was Gene Wilder. Young Frankenstein was also awesome.

I agree Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein amongst the most memorable. I don't have to look at the second clip posted by swift. I'm assuming it's one of the most memorable scenes (IMO) from Young Frankenstein.

I think it was due to my frequently referencing that part, many years ago, that a friend gave me a coffee mug saying "Why be normal " on it.

Introduced The Kid to Young Frankenstein a couple of years ago, she got it. Parents introduced me to Blazing Saddles when I was too young, I got it. My first Wilder movie was Wonka. Still like it. RIP. Hope you're dancing with Gilda now.

That's classic!

I tell people we got married in front of John Wayne. There was a portrait of J.W. holding a shotgun dressed like a cowboy in the office of the JP where we got married. It's in the wedding video too. Those kind of memories always make me laugh. :)

Don't mess up a fantasy with reality swift. It's just rude. :P

I don't want to mess up your fantasy. And I loved Gilda. But apparently his most recent wife was at best being ignored, and at worst was getting some hating. I don't believe in an afterlife, but in any case Gilda's feelings can't be hurt. But his widow is in mourning and I think deserves a little sympathy.

I was teasing, and I had NO IDEA about this. That's awful! That poor woman. She has all my sympathy. My apologies.

Yes, by all accounts she was a wonderful woman. I went back and looked up some stories about them after Swift's post. He wasn't looking for a companion, or a date, but when he met her, he fell head over heals. And they were wonderful companions for decades.
