More of a simple blues guitarist than an MTV superstar,
John Warren Geils Jr. was the calm that steadied the storm headed by Peter Wolf. I wouldn't rank them in my personal top 20 bands and I don't own any of their albums, though I think Mrs. T has one. But they are part of the soundtrack of my youth. At one time I knew the entire Peter Wolf intro to
Musta Got Lost, Live word for word.
...Slip me down your hair and let me climb up the ladder of your love.
Geils was content in later years to pursue his automobile interests in Groton MA with no fanfare. "Everybody knows me, nobody bothers me, I'm just one of the guys." Reminds me alot of my favorite drummer/lyricist, Neil Peart.
