After months of hype, the movie is here. I actually thought it was out weeks ago with all the saturation and ads. We tried to go Tuesday but it's 5 dollar night and all the shows were sold out when we got there. So we went last night to a half empty theatre. So wow. Lots of constant loud explosions and endless CGI. Plenty of cute d|ck joke humor and insults among our heroes. And there was an attempt at a plot. Oh and Kurt Russel and Sylvester Stallone got to come in and play themselves. Groot once again had all the best lines. And obviously all laws of physics, physiology, and anatomy be d@mned.
Best Moment: When there was a quiet pause at the end of the feature before the closing credits started rolling, one of the dozens of small children in the theatre shouted, "Over!" The Kid and I looked at each other and laughed. I couldn't have agreed more.

Anyone else hear of this film? I think it's in wide release.

Patience, my dear!
We didn't see G-1 in the theater. I am very much not a fan of superhero movies so I paid it no attention. Down the road MrPi bought the soundtrack, Awesome Mix Tape Vol. 1. I didn't know he had, and when I got in his car and heard Escape (The Pina Colada Song) I was thoroughly confused. It's not his type of music at all. But when I heard the rest of the songs, I got it. It truly is awesome! My kids loooove it. They ask to listen to it all the time. In fact, last night, as Buster was fighting off bedtime, he asked MrPi to go get the disk out of his car so he could listen to one song.
Eventually we got the movie, and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it! It was the first time I had seen anything with Chris Pratt. He was great. I don't think I've seen anything else of his ever since.
We will eventually see G-2, but maybe not in the theaters.
I've seen the playlist of the Awesome Mix Tape Vol. 2, and I'm not so impressed. However, if I had seen the playlist of Vol. 1 before listening, I probably would have said the same thing!

We loved the first film. Own it on blueray.
Looking forward to seeing the second but in our case it's not practical yet.

I'd be a little worried too.
I was just surprised with this group and it's attention to TV and movies that I was the first to see this given it's over the top hype.

I liked it but then Guardians plays right into my wheelhouse - irreverent, sarcastic heroes, lots of explosions and good music that actually is part of the storyline.
There's a port on a western bay
And it serves a hundred ships a day ...

We have heard of it. We plan to watch it. We usually wait until things are released to be watched at home. We make it to an actual theatre about two times a year.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I'm familiar with those lyrics - I was almost named after that song.

So your parents decided to name you after an herb rather than a liquor?

I missed this post. Has anyone else heard of it? Isn't that a bit like asking if we've heard of the latest Star Trek or Star Wars movie?

Actually, yes, sort of. I saw a trailer for it while watching Guardians 2. Comes out in December I think.

My mom's sister wouldn't have it and stepped in before I was born, saying, "No niece of mine is going to be named Brandy!"
So, here I am, named after a brunch ingredient.
