I used to love that song. Apparently it was originally written and recorded in 1969. Buddy Holly died 10 years earlier so I'm not sure how he was influenced by the song. Also can't find anything about the ship wreck that killed him.

Let's just say I've seen many rhythmic gymnastics ball routines, set to that music. Sis took part in a recreational group, growing up. Mom was a judge for a time.
