I don't have much familiarity with him. Except that when I was a kid there were two brothers in our neighborhood named Travis and Tor, who were little scoundrels, and my dad (who had trouble remembering names so he always made up new ones) called them Rip and Tear. So every time I hear of Rip Torn I think of them.

With a name like that, I kept expecting him to be a porn star. I also liked him as an actor.
