this has nothing to do with the previous post but the category is perfect.
one of the new projects in the world of knitting items for donations is prostheses for women who've had a mastectomy. they are known as 'knitted knockers'. (I am not responsible for the name.) a week or 2 ago one of the pool ladies came up to me in the locker room and asked if i'd make her one. there is no way that a person could refuse such a request. her surgery had left her with half a breast and so we figured out what size the prosthetic should be. I made it, brought it to her and we adjusted the stuffing until she felt that it looked right. the other day this woman, who's 80 if she's a day, came up to me and announced, 'I love my knocker!' heads turned.
thinking about it still makes me laugh.
and still i persist in wondering whether folly must always be our nemesis. edgar pangborn
come gentle night. come loving black browed night
give me my romeo. and when he shall die
take him and cut him out in little stars
and he will make the face of heaven so fine
that all will be in love with night
and pay no worship to the garish sun. william shakespeare
