Ben Stein needs to get a clue

OK... no matter what you believe... discuss it here. All beliefs, faiths and religions (and non-religions) allowed. Discuss the meaning of life, death and everything in between... just remember... not everyone believes the way that you do...

Ben Stein needs to get a clue

I am sure we had a thread with that same title on a previous FWIS incarnation.

http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/b ... separation

I put this in religion, but some of his most absurd comments are mostly about class.

A man who does not deserve air time wrote:My humble observation is that most long-term poverty is caused by self-sabotage by individuals. Drug use. Drunkenness. Having children without a family structure. Gambling. Poor work habits. Disastrously unfortunate appearance. Above all, and counted in the preceding list, psychological problems (very much including basic laziness) cause people to be unemployed, have poor or no work habits, and enter and stay in poverty

Because rich people do not abuse drugs and alcohol. Rich people do not get divorces or have children out of wedlock. Rich people do not gamble. Rich people, well, maybe they are a bit more "primped up" than people in poverty, in general. And rich people are all perfectly sane.

What will make the genuinely poor stop sabotaging themselves? Maybe, just maybe, if we let God back into the public forum it would help. I have seen spiritual solutions work miracles.

I'd bet a poll would reveal that there are more religious people who actually practice religious morals in poverty than the richie riches who do not practice what they preach.

I believe the saying goes something like:

The difference between crazy and eccentric is about $1,000,000

Gee, I thought the expression of Ben Stein was he couldn't find his own asshole with a flashlight and a map.

You people beat too much around the bush.

To paraphrase Frank Zappa:

"Ben Stein, you know what you are? YOU'RE AN ASSHOLE".

end of story.

I thing he's right personally.
I mean think about it.
Most of the world is poor.
Now if they just stopped being lazy and became CEO's of major companies through nepotism then we'd have 5.9 billon CEO's earning millions of dollars every year and only a 100 million or so people that do have to do things like make stuff with their hands to earn a living.

It's also the reason the rich convince people unions are evil. If they worked like they were meant to it would flip the dynamic.
IOW, people that produce goods are valued and people that produce hot air are not.
