In case you were in a forgiving mood today

OK... no matter what you believe... discuss it here. All beliefs, faiths and religions (and non-religions) allowed. Discuss the meaning of life, death and everything in between... just remember... not everyone believes the way that you do...

While the board is actually working, I'm going to throw some opinions into the mix:

1. When spouting stuff about sacrificing people for the greater good, try to remember that your loved ones might be the next sacrifices.

2. Sociopaths aren't Vulcans. They're manipulative, self-serving, dangerous to be around, and very rarely do more good than harm. Sure, it's technically not their fault, but that doesn't make them worthy of emulation.

3. Ordinary people can do just as much harm if they try, though, and one of the best ways of doing that is to rationalize away other people's humanity. Which is what "ends justify the means" thinking constitutes.

Also, this is totally me right now: https://xkcd.com/386/

You take us far too seriously GJ.
And why are you posting here instead of studying CPU design anyway?

Because screw getting stuff done, I'm on vacation?

Good point though, political arguments are a terrible way to wind down.

We don't have political arguments. We have discussions...

That's exactly what it was intended to be.

I'm going to hazard a guess that real ISIS agents on American soil would be smarter than that. Just a guess, mind.

Because the situation wasn't disturbing enough - it turns out several British and Australian men are joining ISIS.

Entire Dutch families too

It takes a special kind of fucked up to take your children into a war zone. CPS can take kids away if parents are planning to do that in this country, but only if tipped off.

I would think it takes a special kind of fucked up to want anything to do with ISIS. I mean, burying people alive, they're like Islam as interpreted by Charles Manson...

But the thing is that they're also among the groups fighting Assad's forces in Syria, who are still on a war crime rampage. So people go off to fight the Syrian regime and wind up being recruited by ISIS. Or maybe they just think, "better the devil who slaughters their civilians than the devil who slaughters ours."

That part of the world is just unbelievably fucked up. :scream:
