Finding Florida

So, after finishing a forensic geology fiction (geologists help solve a crime involving nuclear waste set in Death Valley - a book written for me!), I took up a non-fiction. I do like reading history. Finding Florida caught my eye when I was in St Augustine earlier this year.
Holy crap! This guy - T. D. Allman - is totally ripping everyone that has ever offered a history of Florida. Apparently, if he's on target, Florida has not just recently become a political, economic and sociopathic wasteland, it's been that way since Europeans got involved. Moreover, most of the history books have just about everything wrong, from Ponce de Leon, Menendez, de Soto to Andrew Jackson, which is as far as I've read. I can hardly wait until he gets to the 2000 election.
Anyway, that's what I'm reading.
