For the record- all the federal workers I know are PISSED about all the insulting emails and the like. Which is funny because I'm pretty sure two weeks ago most of them were very "if they make me go back to work, I'm gonna just move to industry!" and now they're all "YOU CAN GET ME OUT OVER MY DEAD BODY."

I certainly wish them well. I find it disheartening how very quiet elected officials are about what is going on TBH- even if you aren't the party in power, you can raise a racket.

Yeah, I've been hearing the same re federal workers from some of my other friends. Can't blame them, I'm also running on spite a lot these days.

And yes... I have noticed the complete vacuum of leadership from the Democrats. Gov Healey at least seems to be listening to us and confronting Schumer a bit, but it's very underwhelming, and from what I've heard about her she might waffle the other way at any moment. And Schumer himself... ugh. Absolutely worthless.

It depends on where you are looking....AOC is very vocal on BlueSky. But I don't know if that's a place where her words would make any difference.

Oh, I mean from senior Dems to be clear. The progressive wing of the party has been doing pretty well, they just (as usual) are being ignored, stonewalled, and sabotaged by the "moderate" wing in every way possible.

Agreed. I think senior Dem leadership is just very "we can't do anything, we're not the party in power!" as if they haven't had a playbook of dirty tricks thrown at them for decades by now to learn from.

One nice note though, when looking to email all my Congressional reps this past week I've noticed one of my senators from Oregon, Ron Wyden, has always already issued a statement on a disturbing development, or sent a letter to the Treasury Secretary demanding answers etc, before I get around to writing a day later. Makes me happy each time.

I'm really worried though. The level of compromise at the Treasury and OPM... I'm not sure the US can recover from this.

I think the senior democratic leadership is in a funk. I think they never realized how bad things were for people or that even groups they had counted on for decades would turn on them. For example, all the arab voters who refused to vote for the lesser evil and either didn’t vote or threw their votes away on a third party candidate to protest Biden’s and Democrats support of Israel. All those groups added up.

Sadly, now a lot of them are finding out what the price of their protest is going to be.

Like my buddy used to say about Republican voters, "They will willingly slit their own throats to vote republican." Some of the people seriously hurt by republican policies are poor white blue collar "conservatives." Yet they are the ones with "Fuck Biden" on their rusty pickups.

And in other news Republican congress critters are being told to cancel town hall meetings because they are getting blasted by “paid protesters” asking them why they aren’t doing their jobs.

My local congress critters FB page is full of people from his district asking him when he became a Putin Puppet and other fun questions.

I sent him an email asking him why he is refusing to uphold his oath to protect and defend the constitution. And why he is letting Trump, Musk, and others exercise the power of the purse which clearly belongs to Congress. Not to mention the shutting down of agencies which is what Congress is about. They created all of those agencies and fund them. If they want them gone there is a process for that. But, they are cowards who are trying to avoid being blamed for their selling out of democracy.
