PROMOTION REDUX

Well at long last....
Last year I announced that I had been selected to be promoted to Lt Colonel(LTC) in the U.S. Army Reserve, Army Nurse Corps. There was much happy dancing in the SFF and Brite household until army bureaucracy at its finest struck. I was selected. But to be officially promoted I had to be in an army reserve LTC slot or I could wait until I served as a Major for a full 7 years. I had been working as an LTC or higher for the last 6 years on active duty but those positions were not reserve positions. So, I had to wait a full year to be promoted.
And finally, as of May 30, 2014 I am promoted. My oak leaf is now silver instead of brass (or gold if you are picky about the official color).
I am convinced they made me wait because they knew I was leaving active duty on May 7th and didn't want to pay me the extra $15,000 that an entire year of LTC pay vs Major pay would have meant. Budget cutting ba$%%#ds!
