I had a plan for the remaining 3 years or so in the army reserve. Find a quiet out of the way place to slide quietly into the retired from the army life...
And then I got the email this morning telling me I have been selected to be the commander of a Medical Support Unit. In essence I will assume command of a battalion sized group in April 2015. Depending on the mission and the subordinate units I may be in charge of I will be the commander of approximately 300 to 600 reserve soldiers.
I have been alternating between OMG! and OMFG! all day.
Mind you. I feel like I am qualified for the job. But, a wee voice does wonder if I beat out the competition or if there was a lack of competition.
