post-op phase 2

for the first time since the last surgery (this has been a year for them!) i drove. i'd been loading the car with items for a round of errands (recycling, things to drop off at goodwill, redeemable bottles and cans for the animal shelter ...) and i ran through the overwhelming majority of the list. no pain. i got into and out of the car several times. i was walking around and it didn't hurt! i did not have to hold onto the cart for dear life in the grocery store. the month before surgery was miserable and it doesn't hurt any more!!
and still i persist in wondering whether folly must always be our nemesis. edgar pangborn

come gentle night. come loving black browed night
give me my romeo. and when he shall die
take him and cut him out in little stars
and he will make the face of heaven so fine
that all will be in love with night
and pay no worship to the garish sun. william shakespeare
