My beautiful bride and I will be celebrating 17 years of matrimonial ups and downs this Saturday, and we can still stand each other. Heck, most of the time we actually like each other.

The other bit of positivity is the reduction of my A1C from 8.3 to 7.5 in 6 months. Now to keep up that trend and get down closer to 6.

Congrats. I know for me, marrying my wife was the smartest thing I've ever done, hands down.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is "A1C"?

Yup, and for those not in the know, the goal is to get it below 6, but most of us are happy if we can get it to 7 or below.

Normal is between 5 and 7... most diabetics do the happy dance when they hit 7... LOL I'm at 6.9...

You know, actually I don't do much of the sugar free products out there. I find that subconsciously it makes me feel like I can eat more of it. Now I will have the occasional bowl of ice cream, piece of pie or cake, etc., and just eat a reasonable portion (like 1/2 cup of ice cream) and give myself the appropriate amount of insulin for the carbs. I have also been working with an endocrinologist to adjust my pump settings to help eliminate the wild swings in glucose levels, and while it is going to be a lifelong process as my body changes and metabolises things differently than it used to, it is definitely showing positive results.
