Astronomy May 2014

Just got two copies of it in the mail- yup, a nice article by me on supermassive stars in there. So check it out! :P

Funny thing btw, you can tell I'm an astronomer because there's a beautiful illustration in the article detailing how jets are formed from supermassive stars and how they create emission. I really want to use it for talks, plus hey it's mine, so I'm writing to my editor to ask if I can have a copy of the image. ;)

Seriously, like teaching, there are few better ways to master a topic than write an article about it. :)

Just heard from the editor that my supermassive stars article was the top-ranked one by readers in the May issue. Booyea! :cheer:

Is that a very long article about stars, or an article about supermassive stars? :confused:

In honor of Astronomy Day on May 10th, TIME invites you to submit your best astronomical photos from 2014. The most outstanding submissions will be published in a gallery on TIME.com on this upcoming Saturday May 10th. In order to submit your work, please follow the steps below:

1). Send an email to TIMEAstroPhoto@gmail.com. You may submit up to 5 photos.
2). For each photo you submit, please include a caption that includes the following information:
what the photo is of, when it was taken, and where it was taken.
3). Please also include your full name and the best phone number(s) to reach you at.
