So I'm in a mood. I am lucky enough to have met all three of our guiding lights in person. Michael, just once, but he was charming and I will never forget it. My heart goes out to Code Monkey, and I offer you a virtual hug.

I'll always be a little sad that I never met mike. I still think about him a lot.

When I first joined either this forum or Bad Astronomy (I forget which), Mike noted that I was OK because I chose an Invader Zim avatar.

Both my avatar and nicknames were chosen for me. Not complaining, I've seen a lot worse.

Well, the name Thumper was chosen by one of my buddies here in Ohio, long ago.
Ichi-Ban Tomodachi was chosen by our revered leader here, Ikyoto.
And my bunny rabbit avatar was chosen by FZ. 8-)

That beats the fairly random(ish) way I became SciFiFisher. Contrary to what SciFiChick thinks I did not choose SciFiFisher as a way to flatter her. Even if she is awesome.

I was signing up for an E-bay account many moons ago. More moons than some of you have been old enough to drink alcohol legally. They asked me what my user name should be. Back then I was very imaginative and thought something like "Ruleroftheknowngalaxy" was the uber cool user name but it was already taken. And I did not want to add 15673986490 to the end of my user name. None of the other variations were free either. Ebay says "Why not use our user name suggestion tool"? So, I ran with it. Ebay asked me for some topics I like. I gave them a few things I liked: fishing, science fiction, reading, and etc. and they mashed science fiction and fishing together. :lol:

Usually, in bars I tell people I won the username in an epic battle of scrabble thus earning the name by right of conquest. :mrgreen:

@Fisher

For some reason I always figured fisher cat, not...fishing.

They are pretty fierce. But I would have gone with the Tasmanian devil. :lol:
