Fill glass with crushed ice (I make ice cubes using bottled water for this drink). Garnish with 1 or 2 sprigs of mint. Enjoy! I don't have a Julep Cup, I just use either a Collins or Highball glass.

Seeing as I use Woodford Reserve for this drink, at times it's just as nice to enjoy a bourbon on the rocks with a lemon peel twist.

I wonder if Jack Daniels would work with this?

Yeah, should work with JD. Some recipes say to muddle mint leaves in sugar and water, then add crushed ice and bourbon. Not sure how much of a difference that makes. I just mix em the way I first read in recipes at the lcbo (provincial booze retailer) website. Looks like I forgot to mention giving the drink a bit of a stir after adding the crushed ice. I sip it through a straw.

No. I did not know there was such a thing. Is it Guinness's version of an IPA?

It's more like a Guinness version of a PBR.

It's their version of an American lager.

Sort of. I'd go with Guiness's version of a Bud though.

They do make an IPA - a nitro IPA. It's not a very good beer, in my opinion.

Yeah, I remember that. It came and went pretty quickly around here. We're having so many craft beer festivals, brewery and taproom openings and tours around here, it's tough to keep up.

Yeah, see I think I could say I'm drinking a Sweet Baby Jesus, but a Dirty Little Freak not so much

Well, I hadn't really noticed since I don't drink Guinness out of a bottle or can. There were 5 different versions of Guinness at my supermarket yesterday. Two types of the regular stout, a lager, an IPA, and I think some sort of spicy funky wheat. I guess with so many different flashy beers out there, they felt like they had to diversify to compete. I felt the same way about Sierra Nevada. Basically the standard in Pale Ale at one time. Now they have a couple of IPA's or doubles, and a couple other "trendy" beers.

Saw Lagunitas' Hop Stoopid yesterday. Pretty sure I've had that. Also some Elysian Space Dust IPA.
