I was looking for something a bit different at the bottle shop this evening and lo and behold, some American beer. Got myself a six pack of Anchor Brewing Co. Liberty Ale, from San Francisco.

Hoppy, malty, toasty, caramel-y, delicious.

Big improvement over Budweiser :P

Or any Canadian beer and comparing it to Labatt's Blue. :P

Liberty Ale, haven't tried it myself, but gave a bottle of it in a mix of international brews, to a friend some years ago.

First drank Anchor Steam Beer over forty years ago. A preference of my roommate, though it was not available in the state.

But he also liked to hide cans of PBR around the house like a squirrel, and when he asked if anybody would like a beer, he'd pull the cans from under sofa cushions or from behind bookcases, and hand out those.

That's a good skill except for the part where the beer would be warm. But then it's PBR, not like it's going to taste good anyway.

Yeah, its sort of like asking if you want your can of piss warm or cold. :P

'Can of piss' is a legitimate alternative form of 'can of alcohol' in Australian-glish.

Yesterday I met a photographer contracted to travel the states taking pictures of Bud cans.
So I got my picture taken drinking one.
Turns out we were in a public place that had a no alcohol policy. Oh well.

He was planning on coming back to the boat with his wife and I was going to say to him that, Bud is to Americans what Fosters is to Australians.
Maybe it would catch on much to my amusement...but he never came back.
