Look at it this way, if it gets worse I can play the refugee card. Sad but it looks like the only way out is that one.

What pisses me off the most, is that on top of all this crap, I have to listen to this bullshit

China will contribute to the development of the Bolivarian Economic Agenda, and announced the intent to fund projects in eight of the 14 production engines, said Venezuela's Vice President for Planning and Knowledge, Ricardo Menendez.

"Bolivarian Economic Agenda", "14 Production Engines" How can they even say this with a straight face?

If they can't stop digging us into a hole, could they at least SHUT THE FUCK UP?

Martial Law. Threatening to abolish the assembly. paranoid rantings about an external enemy trying to destroy the country. well, that's a fine mess.

 Actually, I am sadly not shocked. I just heard on the news today that the police were using tear gas and arresting protesters in Caracas. Another article this week was about how bad medical care has become because of a lack of medicines and other medical supplies. I am shocked that the people of Venezuela have not hit the breaking point... yet?

The protests weren't widespread, so far it's mostly rallies but it's getting there. Yeah, lack of medicines and medical supplies gets worse by the day.

AS for the last part, I suspect that at least some resources are still reaching the slums, that combined with the rumored Military control on some of them, plus our natural high tolerance to incompetence might explain why we, collectively speaking haven't snapped yet.

Maybe I'm not shocked. Let me explain....

Sigma has been reporting this kind of stuff for years, yet the revolution (or is it re-revolution) still has not happened. We see similar things all over the world, including the US; people putting up with stuff that would make you think the revolt will happen any moment, but it never does.

I think part of it is the boiling frog syndrome. You try to put a frog in a pot of boiling water and they immediately jump out. But you put them in room temperature water and gradually raise the heat, and you cook them. People have an immense tolerance for crap, especially if it is built up over a long period of time. People have an immense resistance to change, particularly sudden, violent change.

Sure, every system has a breaking point, but I think that point is at a much higher level than most of us estimate. I also think that is why, when the breaking point is reached, that the break is that much more shattering.

Materials science applied to sociology. :D

Yes, that. That article is so damn true. The utter credulity of some people on the left has disgusted me for a long time.

What a surprise, Nicky and his Band of Merry Idiots are trying to find an excuse to cancel the referendum

Meanwhile, downtown people are rioting because of "interesting" twists with Food Distribution

Only the National Guard, no Army, this suggests that my suspicion that the Armed Forces are not really backing Nicky is plausible. Which MIGHT be a good thing.

At this point you all might be better off with a good old fashioned military junta.
