The Weather Thread

They don't. At least not the meteorologists I follow. Which are NOT the tv guys&gals. The always say "the track could shift south" for example, and to check back at X amount of time before the event for more accurate forecasts.

Not good enough for the public.

Well, I'm the public. And if you tell me there's a "ZERO percent chance of rain for the next 5 days", and it rains on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, I've got a problem with that. :P

It was 75 Friday afternoon. Much of Columbus called in sick or found a way to get out of work and frolic in the summer like weather. I wore shorts as we walked the dog that afternoon. By 10:00pm, thunderstorms thrashed into the area and though not confirmed, I swore I heard hail crashing against the side of the house. It only rained for 10-15 minutes but there were still puddles in the yard yesterday, two days later. Saturday morning, it was down to 40 and as I walked the dog we were pelted by sleet, snow and 40mph winds. Yesterday, I woke up to 29F. Supposed to be back up in the 60's tomorrow.

It was awful dark. :P
And I won't get home before dark tonight. But it's bound to happen again. My road was topped at one point. Luckily it was behind where I was going.

I was awaken at 5:45 this morning to the house phone ringing (Reverse 911 warning), the cell phone on the nightstand vibrating (two sets of warnings - one from the Weather Underground app and one from the city), and the weather radio going off, all about tornado warnings in the area. At that moment in time it wasn't even raining. About 10 minutes later the squall line moved through - we had about 5 minutes of intense rain and winds, and then it was done.

No snow last night but ridiculous winds. Still windy this morning. Snow showers predicted today tonight tomorrow and Saturday. Although it's supposed to get up into the 40's everyday. Next week supposedly back up to the 60's again next week. A completely lost winter.

60 and sunny Sunday, a beautiful late April or early May day....Rain yesterday rain today, with storms. Ground is so saturated that every sprinkling creates large puddles in the yard. High of 20 by the end of the week.

Yep, yep. We always send it your way. It was 60 yesterday, and then a line of thunderstorms came by with tennis ball sized hail and the earliest confirmed tornado ever confirmed in MN. (The worst stayed north of us.) Then it snowed overnight. We're going to have "normal" temperatures for the next couple weeks, meaning highs in 20s-30s and lows in 10's-20's, with occasional snow. It will seem so cold!

I know what you mean Thumper. This last week was in the low 70's and it was quite chilly.

That's messed up. Last year in Virginia, Winter turned to Summer so fast we still had snow on the ground where we lived and it was in the 80's.

I'll be d@mned. 65 and sunny yesterday when I ran with the dog. 60 and rainy when I went to bed. Snow on the ground when I woke up. In fact the dog was covered when he came back in. Whiteout and 35 as I was driving in to work. Sweet.

-12.2 C as I was biking in to work!

My odometer (with a temperature reading) battery died in the cold, and when I got it back online it was in Celsius. I didn't want to reconfigure it on the road!

Woke to rain this morning. Checked around and it's going to go down into the high 50's in a few days time. Ok, sure, that's the overnight temp, but it's like cold!

It did indeed get down to 15 or so. But it was a beautiful weekend. Armageddon predicted for tonight. Almost 2 inches of snow after it converts from rain. Other areas east and north of us expecting over a foot. Only of interest to us because we are driving to NYC for the second half of the week. I'll take my boots.

Woke up to a wild thunder storm about an hour ago. Looked on weatherunderground and saw we were in a long line of storm that was across Florida and that there was a Tornado warning. It's always fun to wake up Bohemian Rhapsody weather.

We got about an inch. I hear Cleveland got an actual winter storm (Swift?) Pennsylvania is bracing as it blasts through. I will be keeping an eye on that as well as NYC during the next 48 hours.

The birds are shining. The sun is singing. Our high today is supposed to be 77 degrees F. I guess we will just have to endure it. :P
