The Weather Thread

It was a beautiful warm springy Sunday, Sunny and 55. Yesterday was even warmer, I saw 63 in the afternoon on the way home. This morning drove to work in 33 and downpours. Freezing rain through the day. Expecting 4-6 inches of snow by mid day tomorrow. Happy Spring everybody.

Ditto. Just some soft snow for us today, not more than an inch.
But my parents are in town for Rooster's birthday (6!!) and they are supposed to fly to Maryland into the Nor'easter tomorrow. We might get to have them for an extra day!

Almost a half inch on the ground when I got up. Air temps still above freezing. Light snow on the way in. They're still saying 2-4 by the end of the day. Evening commute will then suck. and I have an early appointment clear on the other side of town. But it looks like we may survive as a whole.

As it's gotten light, it sure is pretty. Heavy wet snow sticking to every branch of every tree and bush. About an inch covering everything that isn't asphalt or concrete.

We got about an inch here in town, it was gone by nightfall. We got 3 inches at home, just hints now here and there where it's always shady. It never stuck to the roads. It's always interested how much more we get at the house than we do in town. It's not like I live up the mountain or anything...

Close to 4 inches of snow on Monday. I missed it because I was driving back from North Carolina. Thunderstorms and tornadoes yesterday highs in the 60's. Wind and rain last night. More wind today, chance of snow this morning high in the mid 40's.

Sunshine. Temps in the 70's during the day dropping down to about 50 at night. Rain predicted for later in the week. Already had to use my air conditioner for a few hours this week. OK, maybe I didn't "have to" but I really hate being too warm. :P

I was emailing with a friend in Celebration Florida. He said his home A/C just went out on Monday. I told him there was no way I'd ever know if my home A/C was working in the month of April. :P
In other news, that's 2 snows since the Forsythia bloomed. One to go.

8" of snow yesterday. That's not too uncommon.
What is a surprise is that it was 11F as I was walking in this morning. With the Sun angle, even at 7:30-8am, it was dang hot. I had my hat, gloves, and scarf off, and my coat unzipped by the time I was at work! A contribution to the excess heat was walking over sidewalks that haven't yet been cleared. A good workout.

Since it hit 65F on Tuesday (plus the fact that I spent a couple days in NC where it was close to 70F, yesterday when it was 35F and a cold cutting wind was brutal. :P

It has snowed here just about every other day since Easter. A couple inches stuck overnight Friday. Wouldn't have been an issue except that I had left my truck in my office parking lot after getting it serviced. Mrs. T dropped me off at it Saturday morning. It was covered in ice and I broke my ice scraper on it. In April! High of 75 this Friday. High of 40 predicted for Monday. Spring, if it does come will happen in little starts and fits. We had Peppers in full peeping regalia by this time last year and I remember posting about fireflies in May I believe. Not this year.

This week I swapped my winter tires for summer on the Pathfinder, figuring we were done with this nasty frozen water stuff. I even played a round of golf yesterday, and went hiking.

Forecast calls for snow tomorrow. I don't think it will be anything but still. My condolences to those residing in the arctic regions of the US midwest.

Even though I'm about done with winter for this year, I still appreciate more than most.
We actually had some golf courses open (briefly) over a month ago. It was on a day to day basis.

In the middle of the first (true) blizzard warning the Twin Cities has had in 13 years. We've had about a foot of snow since this morning, and it will keep snowing until tomorrow night.

April blizzards bring turkey gizzards?

Not much snow, but loads of freezing rain over the past day, on top of that snow. Temp is now slowly rising and heavy rain forecast overnight and through mid-day, could be up to 60 mm (2.25 inches) of rain. Winds can gust up to 80 km/h (50 mph). Some more snow to follow on Tuesday. Should make for a messy couple of days, most snow removal contracts were up at the beginning of this month.

80F and windy as he|| Friday. Currently 35 and snow showers expected today, tonight, and tomorrow. It was supposed to rain all weekend but held off until about 2:00pm Saturday. Then rained constantly since then. Flooding everywhere. I literally had ducks swimming around my yard. You could hear the whitewater of my back creek. But it brought the peepers back out. Saw the track of the storm going through Minnesota, Chicago and north of Detroit into Toronto and looked like it was going to hit Buffalo.

Good news, I got the rain gauge out just in time for it to fill up with water and fall over. The porch is covered in ice this morning. Everything else is flooded. Another chance of snow Thursday.

Holy cow, there was a faint glow in the east before I even made it to work. I guess it kind of snuck up on me because,
A. it's been mostly cloudy for the last 2 months, and B
B. When it snows every other day (it snowed on me yesterday morning), you don't realize that you're well past equinox and inching closer to solstice.

It's a trick. Trying to get you to put away your winter gear and swap out your tires before the next blizzard.
