Halogen oven

Can't have a bar without a Grill... So here's where we discuss great (and no so great) food. The good, the bad and the "even the dog won't eat it" mistakes of our culinary attempts...

Halogen oven

I forgot to mention here but I finally gave in and bought one! And it's great! Cooks twice as fast as my house's oven, with better crisping even at low temperatures.

Better living through physics! I've got plans for it for tonight, will post photos.

The oven in action:

It's like a cross between an electric grill and a blast furnace. :D

Does the outside get really hot? It looks sort of bright too. But, tres cool.

@Fisher: yes, the outside gets quite hot. Cools down pretty fast once turned off though.

It is annoyingly bright TBH, the light is probably a migraine risk for me. So far I've supervised it from an adjacent room while it's running, so that I can minimize the light exposure but still be on hand if it starts smoking or something.

So, I am wondering if the halogen oven has survived and is still considered the uber baking device?

It has not, sadly, but we now have a convection oven microwave which TBH is better in some ways. Less of a devil to clean for starters.
