Update from Trish

Postby Loresinger » Tue Jan 14, 2025 10:23 pm

Lots of things to share, most of them health related. Paul is not doing well at all. He is slowly slipping into dementia and will have to be moved soon to a safer floor. We do what we can to engage him, but this was inevitable.

I ended up in the ICU un October with septic shock. My colon and gall-bladder are now gone. The recovery is going to be slow and I am desperately trying to recoup some work and a new client to keep ahead of the bills

The good news is that Jeremy is marrying in December of this year. Great gal. They have a solid future.

There aren't many people who come here any more. So it's time again for me to ask if this space should remain. Just let me know your feelings.

Trust you are all well and having a good start to your year

I'm so sorry, Trish, and glad you survived. Sepsis is no joke.

Sorry about Paul, too. But very glad that Jeremy has, from the sound of it, finally gotten his shit together.

For the space to remain... I think it should be your choice? It sounds like you need a lot more support now, and I'm not sure it's fair to you to ask you to maintain this board (even the bare minimum, even if we provide the money for the host). What do you think?

I will agree with lady_*nix, you should decide what is best for you and your family. We appreciate all you've done to keep the lights on, so to speak, and I will miss it when they finally turn off, but that's certainly not as important as your health and that of your family.

Please extend my congratulations to Jeremy, I'm happy that he's happy. Though it's crazy to think of him all grown up!

Honestly, I only pop in here about once a month or less often to stay in touch with one or two people who are not on the other more toxic social platforms. I suppose if someone were willing to do the backend work I would be willing to support the site more than I have recently. I won’t rehash past history but it will still be sad if the site goes dead.

Trish, if someone volunteered would you be willing to turn the site over to them?

I was thinking about the same thing. I'm happy to provide monetary support if there is someone that can put up with the maintenance work. I wouldn't even know what that entails. I just don't have any other place to go. Yes I have a FB account and get on it occasionally. I really don't know what I'm doing. I see silly or ridiculously ignorant political posts by people. These posts appear to go out to everyone. I notice some people have 400-500 "friends".
I don't have anything I want to say to 500 somewhat random people. Besides, I think I only have about 10 of my own. At least I only seem to get "content" from about that many people.
I also like the separation of topics and threads here. You can follow the individual discussions vey easily.

Re: Update from Trish - taking over

I would absolutely give up the reigns to someone who wants to be here (so to speak). The whole forum could use a facelift. I have no issue with maintaining the space if you still want to use it. TBH I wouldn't know how to disable the forum without disabling the URL

I appreciate your understanding more than you know. I am feeling overwhelmed by this change in my life, but I don't want to just drop and run (if you will).

Y'all are wonderful humans with whom I want to have touchstones even if not here.

Let me know, and I love you very much

Even though this forum has been whittled down to a very few, we are still here because it's family. I can't imagine it not existing anymore. I'm happy to do whatever I can to help.

Same. Let me/us know. I know we've all started coming here less and less, but it's a nice little habit I'd hate to stop after so many decades.

Hi Trish

Sorry to hear about Paul.

I haven't been here for a while and I just saw this message. If you need any technical help let me know.
