Time Stands Still

New great movie about Rush, specifically counting down to the last show on the final Rush tour. Some great interviews. Sound and video was a little sub par. It seemed like the producers may have grabbed a bunch of amateur film (sorry iPhone video) to augment their picture. It was in theatres for one night only last Thursday. Available soon on DVD/BluRay in a variety of commemorative packages. There were two shorts before the main feature that were quite good that I hope come with the package.

It did show Rush fans as the total geeks and nerds that we are. I guess showing a normal Rush fan (whatever that is) wouldn't have had a good enough effect or made for good cinema. But it was a little over the top. Even if you don't like the band I recommend this as to why they matter and why there's a certain group of us that love them. A very similar sentiment to the wonderful documentary, "Beyond the Lighted Stage."

Two thumbs up. Through no influence of my own, we listened to the better part of the Rush catalog on our way to and from Baltimore at the hands of the other two Rush fans in the car.

Wow, busy thread, we'll probably have to purchase more hard drive space to store all the posts.
Due to popular demand, there is another limited showing of Time Stands Still tonight in selected theatres, check local listings. Talked to a couple Rush buddies about it. Neither of them saw it in theatre or planned to see it tonight, but both have ordered the BluRay/DVD.
It was hilarious, we were at The Kid's band concert Tuesday night, talking with one of her friend's Mom. The parents are also Rush fans, especially the Dad. We were talking about Rush, the new documentary, and the last tour. The Kid said, "tell them how you cry when you hear certain Rush songs." So she explained it. Friend's Mom gets on the phone and says she just has to text her husband to tell him The Kid's Mom cries every time she listens to Discovery. :P
The Kid started to hum and sing the part and Mrs. T said, "stop, you're going to make me cry right now."

A friend asked if I was interested in seeing the screening, but I passed. I'm just a casual fan, liking the span of Sector 2 set. I'm sure it'll get aired on tv eventually, I'll catch it then.

Personally, I think it would be enjoyable to casual fans and even those who are not fans. I let a younger friend borrow the great documentary "Beyond the Lighted Stage." She was not a Rush fan but viewing it she appreciated the band more especially with the wonderful acclaim given by other artists. This one will do similar. It touches on the "super nerds" who are the Uber Rush fans. And I can find comfort in that no matter how big a geek I am, I'm not THAT bad. :P Hope you get to see it sometime. I say it's worth it.

Just finished watching it (finally). One the "music", formerly video stations, just aired it. Kinda worked with the Rush microbe thingy earlier in the week.
