Damn, I'm good...

Our algebra assignments are online. The homework has 'helping hands' if you can't solve a problem -- they show you how to do the problem, then give you another one in the same format but different numbers. Had one like this the other night. No matter how many times I tried, I could only get 2parts of the 3 part answer...and the 'help' wasn't. I'd wind up with the right answer, my wrong answer, and 'help's wrong answer.

After deciding not to beat my head against the wall any longer, I scribbled down the parts of the problem in question and showed it all to the instructor tonite. (Keep in mind, I had a 94+% on the assignment to this point.)

So we hashed it over. Found my error (a simple 'added when I shoulda subtracted'), but that still left the wrong answer that 'help' gave. So the instructor brought things up on the computer, and looked at the process...and looked...and looked some more...and looked up and told me that there was a typo on the page...

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaalebloodylujah!!

I wasn't completely right, but I wasn't completely wrong either!

According to the instructor, out of 50 or so people who have told him thus far that the book is wrong on something, I AM THE ONLY ONE who found a real error in the book.

Since we'd gone through the problem and I found my mistake, and since my assignment grade was so high already, AND there was a legitimate error in the book and I brought it to him so he could notify the rest of the class and the online people about it, my grade for that homework went from 94+% to 100%...

I am a freakin' algebraic genius, I are... :cheer:  :pop:

UPDATE

Intermediate algebra final exam -- 75

Intermediate algebra course grade -- 73

Seein' as the last two concepts were my personal walls that I ran keadlong into,
and I still have 0% confidence that I understand them...

I will take both those grades, and run cackling madly into the haze...

Cool. What does a 75 get you in letter grades?

It depends on the professor. Some of them grade on a curve. In which case it could be an "A". :o

Usually though it is the mid-range of a "C". and everyone know that A students wind up working for C students (or college drop outs)

75 would be a C. That means I'm intensely average.

I have battled my way back...
I have no real idea of the grades I'll get, but everything I can find out tells me I'll
pass DataBase Management with at least a C. All the projects have been turned in, the DB project is done and submitted (still has
a few kinks in it, but this is the last day), and the written final kicks in at 6 peeyem...

The instructor has cut me MAJOR slack in this course due to the family happenings this summer.
How it is that I caught up to the point I'm liable to pass, I'll never know.

I get done here, I'm sleeping for a week...

Two out of four submissions graded, and the written final done -- I have a mid - B.

WTF, he said puzzledly???

But the last two items for points are yet to be done in class tonite...there is the possibility
(oh hear my supplication, Oh Noodly One) that I just might finish this with an A.

If that happens, it will be conclusive proof that the age of miracles is not yet over.

The instructor asked us to double check that the system had taken all our submissions for grading, as grades
have to be turned in to the registrar Monday.

Sure enough, one thing hadn't gone thru, so I resubmitted.

2.75 points over the line...this is like a Daytona 500 margin of victory equal to one extra coat of paint on the front bumper.

With all the stuff that's happened this summer (and, of course, some major slack from the instructor),
it is evident that the age of miracles is not yet over. I am now officially a Database Ninja Level 1.

ALL the pressure is off now.

Damn, this feels sooooooooooooo good...

To sum up this year so far...

The Finite Math instructor I had was a waste of carbon, oxygen, mulch, and plant space.
He has a personality rougher than 40 grit sandpaper and an ego larger than the QEII -- and he NEVER lets you forget it.
What with him being him, and just not being able to grasp some concepts (no thanks to his "I lecture and you do the rest"
teaching style), I decided to drop the class. This was after finding myself roaring in pain with tears streaming down my cheeks while driving home after a long study session. So we're gonna give it the ol' college try one more time starting January.

CISCO networking? Passed the final, and I'll say no more. I know my deficiencies in study habits here, so taking the next one in line will
mean some changes in focus and procedures.
Last day of class, the automated grade summary system on the class website said I was pulling an A.

???

The instructor said that was right...so with the final et al applied, I could very well skate this one with a B...and ya better believe I'll
take it, scampering into the darkness cackling madly.

I got one last thing to submit in about an hour, then I'm home packing and off to Jean's memorial in MI this Saturday...

C yas next week...

UPDATE -- the website says I've already finished the assignment, with a 70 -- there are some stray gamma rays impacting
a hard drive somewhere...

But I finish with either a low B or a high C, and trust me, whichever one I get, I EARNED...

Grades get turned in to the registrar Monday. We'll see then.

I am officially DONE..

...road trip...
