I have an in class essay exam tomorrow, and finals start next week.... No summer classess so that I don't have to try and finagle trying to finish up class and try to get to Florida to welcome Claire into the family. (That's the name picked out for Cookie's little one... it's a girl... did I mention that Cookie's having a girl?? She's having a girl!)

So if I get onto the board and begin to sound... off... OK... more off than usual... it's because I'm drinking... or have been studying too long... or I've killed Fisher and Poe and am exhausted from burying them in the backyard....

Claire is a great name- good and classic. Keep us posted!

Very exciting. I like the name Claire too. FZ will promptly nickname her Claire Bear. :D

People who don't think or aren't wired this way look at it and think that you will sleep with anything and anyone... (kind of like being bi... it's the same rant... LOL) Pisses me the hell off....

Indeed - and it sounds like this guy that Rommie met totally plays into the stereotype. Sigh. Like we don't have enough nonsense to overcome.

Polyamorous sounds so much nicer than "Hello, My name is Brad. I am a male slut and I will sleep with you in exchange for lodging". :P

Please note the sincerity (they are nice shoes) and non pretentious way it gets right to the point. At least my theme song isn't "Do Ya F*** On First Dates" By Kevin Bloody Wilson. :P

Nope. Full of people with almost the same mind set. Except they usually wait until they are 3 sheets in the wind before they become as good as I am sober at this. :P

A military ball is... different.... you are surrounded by men who shouldn't be allowed out in public without keepers....

Did something today I wanted to do a version of for awhile- I cycled to the Dutch astronomers conference! Ok cheated slightly and took the train to Haarlem (as that was a boring stretch of cycling anyway and was another hour) but it was still an hour and a half and luckily my room was free so I could take a quick shower.

Background- conference happens every year, usually a big party and "networking," and this year is up in the middle of the tulip field area (past bloom but oh well- still a lovely area). Thing is from Amsterdam you have to go to Leiden then catch a shuttle bus... I have never known a shuttle bus that didn't piss me off to a conference, and my friends confirmed this one was also overcrowded and such- and you had to meet up at the train station in Amsterdam at 830 to make it on time. Whereas train+bike took me two hours, we are now in the middle of gorgeous weather here, so put some clothes in one pannier and my laptop in the other and rigged the poster tube to ride on top, and headed off for a really gorgeous bike ride. 8-) Additional bonus: we are fairly near the beach at this hotel, so I don't need to rent a bike to go there unlike my friends. Final bonus: room was already ready when I rolled up so I could take a well-deserved shower before showing up at the lectures all smelly.

Looks like our good weather here ends Wednesday, ie last day of the conference, so might have to leave early that day- but hey, great adventure! :) And hey, this way I don't feel guilty drinking too much the next two nights. ;)

Is it just me... or has it been rather quiet around this forum the last couple of days.

Actually, I think it has been becoming progressively quieter over a considerable period of time (months at least).

And no, there is not joke there... :?

I've noticed too. Not sure what to do about that though.
