No, I don't want to buy any Girl Scout cookies

Had a crappy day? Think your only friend is the dog? Got fired? Someone piss in your Wheaties? Just need to blow off some steam and rant? Here's the place to do it. No judgement, maybe some sympathy, possibly some advice... but definitely a safe place to go off on the world.

No, I don't want to buy any Girl Scout cookies

Ugh, I'm sick of people posting "Anyone want to buy GS cookies" on facebook. Yes please, and send them to me from Michigan!

I dread when my kids get into activities that require fundraising. I hated it when I was a kid, and continue to hate it. I won't bring order forms to work or send out emails to people. It will all be up to the kids. I'll encourage them but not force or assist. If they are good at it and "meet quota", good on them! But whatever goals they don't meet I'll gladly make up for in cash to avoid having to put any of my effort into it.
Too bad ignorance isn't painful.

But, how are you going to get even with all those other parents? :P

I used to succumb to social pressure and bought cookies from coworkers. Not anymore.

Once in a while, mostly for my wife who loves Thin Mints, I'll buy them from a co-worker. We also get the girl scouts at local grocery stores who set up a table and we'll buy a box from them.

Facebook postings... no.

I miss those peanut butter girl scout cookies- haven't had one in years!

And yeah, I don't understand the people selling stuff for their kids like that. I remember going around the neighborhood selling fudge for my ballet school because I thought it was fun (for whatever reason), and recall my mom encouraging it, but no way she ever actually came with me... well ok I guess she drove me to my uncle's so I could get him to buy some, but that was it. :P

It's also a bit mad how much the selling mantra goes. For example, I remember in 5th grade or so going to a school assembly where the company that gets kids to sell wrapping paper or whatever the crap it was told us all the cool prizes we could get, and how the class that sold the most would get a pizza party, basically bribery to sell their shit... and in hindsight, WTF was that about that the school let them?!
Yes, I have a life. It's quite different from yours.
